Phyllis R. Gooden, Ph.D.
Phyllis R. Gooden, Ph.D. graduated with a B.S. in Fashion Design from Tuskegee University with concentrations in English, art, and journalism. From this academic background, she began a career in writing, editing, and designing projects in the corporate sector, including broadcast and television specials. Over the years, she has held positions in the fields of advertising, marketing, graphic design, public relations, and television programming in New York, Atlanta, Birmingham, and Chicago with such firms as AT & T, Parisian, and Macy's.
In the1990s, her interests also involved higher education, and with the same spirit of adventure and dedication exemplified in the corporate sector, she earned a M. A. in English in1998 and a Ph.D. in 2005 from Northern Illinois University. In the educational sector, she has held positions in the Birmingham Public Schools, Georgia State University, Northern Illinois University, and Kishwaukee College. She is currently in the position of Lead Faculty for English and Humanities for American InterContinental Online (AIU) and serves as Chair of the AIU Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Initiative. Presently, she is completing a poetry collection entitled Midnight Moon of the Soul that will be published in 2009.
