Achieving Life Balance
Why coaching?
Posted: Jan 5th, 2009
I got into coaching because I wanted to bring out the best in myself. When I saw the power coaching can have on the lives of great women, I knew it was something I wanted to share with others. As a registered coach, I am often asked what coaching is all about.
Specifically, coaching has several deliverables that women who want to achieve find of value:
- Perspective – provides a fresh way to look at a situation.
- Validation –via support, acknowledgement, and encouragement.
- Message – sharing of knowledge, opinions, and wisdom.
- Energy – generates excitement and renewal.
- Solution – sharing of solutions.
- Plan – joint development of a plan of action.
- Structure – contact, check-ins, and frameworks to help guide.
- Resources – provides connections to experts, books, tools, and assessments.
- Options – expands discovery of alternatives.
- Caring – provides an opportunity for listening, patience, safety, and love.
- Training – identification of personal and business skills.
- Advice – recommendations and suggestions.
- Strategy – jointly develops an approach.
- Feedback – offers feedback, observations, insights, ideas, and opinions.
- Challenge – provides a challenge to stretch, grow, and/or make changes.
Any one or combination of these benefits will make working with a coach a wonderful experience. So, let’s get started by bringing out the best in you. You have so much to offer the world, and so many qualities to admire, that you already have what it takes to achieve and live your dreams. Identifying your best is the first step. Take some time to list the items below and you will see.
- Make a list your Skills and Abilities
- Make a list of your Accomplishments
- Make a list of your contributions
- Share your “identifying best.”
Coach’s Corner is a place of affirmation and celebration! (Celebration -- to praise widely and spread a favorable public notice -- being the key ingredient of this blog.) Each post will focus on a topic, resource, or coaching tool intended for use and discussion as it may apply to your personal life goals. Be proud of your successes and your failures and come prepared to share your viewpoints.
