Seeking Help is Okay

When we spoke last you made the commitment to complete your education. You have your family on board and you are ready to go. One of the things you must do is realize you cannot do it all. Sometimes we as women think we can until we hit the wall.
I remember wanting to drop out of college midway through my program. The facility I was working in was closing and I found myself without a job. To add to my stress level, I was the facility manager and I had to ensure all the employees were placed into positions elsewhere within the organization. So while my employees looked to me for some sign of hope, I had to stay positive and not show my concern for my own well being. Of course did I mention things at home were nerve racking? My family, who promised me faithfully they were in my corner and supportive of my decision to return to school, decided I was not giving them enough attention, which of course made me feel guilty. My home was in disarray due to chores left undone. I felt mentally and physically drained.
However, through much prayer everything worked out. I had to realize that a lot of the stress I endured was self induced. I had to refocus my attention and concentrate on the larger goal, which was to complete my education.
The best advice I could give anyone is to remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. Having a less than perfect house and seeking help when you need it is OK. You have a greater goal. Make a schedule and prioritize your to do list. Don’t forget to play, rest, and allow time for family and friends.
Balance is the key to success.
