Finding Spirit in Helping Others

Spirit is a strong word. What is spirit? How does one advance spirit through learning from others? Spirit to me is the essential nature of a person or group. It is also a vital principle or animating force within living beings (American Heritage Dictionary). Thus, each day I attempt to blend mind, body and spirit in achieving ultimate personal success.
As an American Intercontinental University Online marketing instructor, I have mixed instructing practices with acknowledging each student’s needs and wants. For me, success is feeling I helped another human being through daily facilitation activities, while extending myself personally to assist each student’s individual needs. As an instructor, I use the knowledge I gain from working with my students to improve my future courses.
Teaching is my life and my students play an important role in learning how to feed my spirit. According to Miles Jones “The higher your energy level, the more efficient your body, your mind, and your soul can become. The more efficient these key dimensions of your life, the better you feel and the more you will use your talent to product outstanding results” (The Spirit of Teaching, 2007). This basic idea may be applied to any job. Find importance in how to better assist others. The great achievement from going above and beyond in helping others is immeasurable. Getting to know your spirit in incorporating activities in life generally brings genuine satisfaction, knowledge and the feeling of accomplishment. The world may be difficult to deal with at times, however it is how we utilize spirit in making the road a little less bumpy along the way. Help others to grow spiritually and share your practices!
